During this visit we will see the three phases of the marble cycle: extraction, transformation and application.
The tour starts at the center of Vila Viçosa, also known as the Portuguese capital of the marble. Join our local guides that will introduce you to the marble world.
At our headquarters you’ll be given an introduction to the marble world at the Marble Interpretive Center, where the main topics will be geology, geography and history. Here you will also get a clear idea how important the marble industry is for the local community, not just from economical point of view, but also, and mainly, from social perspective.
Then, while heading to the industry, learn also why there is such an unforgettable and unique landscape totally shaped by the opening of the marble quarries through the centuries. It’s time to absorb all the beauty of this very unique landscape.
As the marble blocks are not ready to be applied right after the extraction, we will also visit a factory where the marble will be transformed to its final shape before being applied or sent to the market to be sold.
