Known as the \u201cWhite City\u201d due to its renowned marble, this gem in the Alentejo marble region offers history, heritage, and breathtaking landscapes \u2014 the ideal setting for a walking tour.<\/pre>\n
Let\u00b4s have a walk with one of the groups that we received. With charming streets, impressive monuments, and stories that bring Estremoz marble to life, every moment was a discovery for all ages.<\/p>\n
The Walk<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Our starting point was Rossio Square, a spacious and vibrant area. Here, our guide Jo\u00e3o shared the fascinating history of the Estremoz Town Hall building, where we had the chance to visit the interior. The courtyard adorned with marble sculptures and the stunning staircase decorated with tiles captured everyone\u2019s attention \u2014 and, of course, we took a group photo!<\/p>\n

If you visit on a Saturday, you\u2019ll also have the chance to explore the famous traditional market held in the same square. It\u2019s impossible not to fall in love with the fresh Alentejo products and the vibrant atmosphere. But this market deserves a post of its own!<\/p>\n
As we wandered through the city center, we were lucky enough to find the Santo Cristo Chapel open \u2014 a rare treat! It was a brief stop, but it left us amazed.<\/p>\n

Next, we headed to the former Convent of Maltesas, now the Estremoz Live Science Center,<\/a> where we visited the cloisters and uncovered historical details, such as the old pharmacy.<\/p>\n
\"\"<\/p>\n
Oh, and we also met a friendly pair of peacocks!<\/p>\n
\"\"<\/p>\n
The Highlights<\/strong><\/h3>\n
We then arrived at the famous Gadanha Lake, one of the most photographed spots in Estremoz, with its serene beauty.<\/p>\n

To wrap up our tour, we climbed up to the Estremoz Castle.<\/p>\n
\"\"<\/p>\n
The view from the Tower of Homage, made of local marble, is breathtaking. It\u2019s incredible to think that marble from here has traveled to so many countries and is part of historic monuments worldwide!<\/p>\n

Throughout the tour, we discovered how marble is deeply intertwined with Estremoz\u2019s identity. From fountains to churches, every detail tells a story about this unique city in the Alentejo marble region.<\/p>\n
