The public presentation of the project ALENMAR was held on the January 30th, 2025.
The project promoted by CECHAP – Association for Studies in Culture, History, Arts and Heritage, consists of a range of tourist entertainment activities, developed in an industrial space and complemented by the heritage of the architectural and urban landscape. The touristic offer by CECHAP is operating since 2014 and will be now complemented by the ALENMAR project – funded by Linha + Interior Turismo.
The program included an opening panel and interventions by researchers from CIDEHUS (University of Évora) and ARTIS-IHA (University of Lisbon). Maria da Luz Sampaio presented the challenges inherent in developing the Interpretation Centre in a changing territory, while Jaime Serra highlighted solutions for monitoring cultural tourism, based on the Alentejo Sustainable Tourism Observatory. In turn, Carlos Filipe closed the presentations with an approach to the AlenMar project, highlighting its relevance as a catalyst for knowledge, tourism and local development.
This event was held in a hybrid format – in person at the CECHAP auditorium, in Vila Viçosa, and online via the Zoom platform, and brought together experts to address the multiple challenges and potential associated with the valorization of the cultural and industrial heritage of marble in the Alentejo region.
